Kachna is a diminutive of the name Katarzyna, which itself is derived from the ancient Greek name Aikaterī́nē (Αἰκατερῑ́νη). This name carries the meaning of "clean, clear, pure," and signifies a person who is "pure, clear of dirt, clean of shame or guilt, purified."
